The Opportunity
Artist in Residence (AIR) PROGRAM:
MAC HOUSE Artist in Residency (AIR) Program provides artists with independent living and working space set on the Lake Michigan shore. Acceptance into the residency includes free accommodations in Sheboygan and a free studio space to work on the art. Each residency can span from one week, to three months, to a full season.
The expectation is an AIR will spend time in the residency creating and evolving as an artist, producing work to be shown at the end of the residency. Additionally, we believe in the power of community, and as a MAC HOUSE Artist in Residence we may invite you to show your work throughout the year, alongside other AIRs.
An environment of creative freedom supports the process and development of new works, allowing for a combination of aesthetic inquiry, creative risk-taking, experimentation, and artistic development.
Family Residency Option :
MAC House Project broadly defines “family” as a group of more than one individual where there is an in-house dependent relationship as a necessary caregiver. We recognize that artists may have caregiving relationships, as providers or recipients. MAC House Project aims to provide accommodations which increase access to our residency program.
Examples of caregiving may include, but are not limited to: parent/child (parent is caregiver), child/parent (child is caregiver), partner/partner (where one partner is a supportive caregiver of the other and cohabitation is required for caregiving), a recipient of caregiving, a self-selection into this application for separate and additional housing space by identifying as a family applicant.
